Commercial LVT tile glued down 20 mil & Up

Regarding the durability of your vinyl plank flooring, the most important factor to consider is the wear layer. It protects the printed color and pattern from daily wear and tear as well as scuffs, scratches, and dents. The wear layer thickness is measured in mil, which is one-thousandth of an inch, and not to be confused with millimeter. Many American brands convert the metric measurements used by most manufacturers that are based in Europe or Asia, so the wear layer typically comes in 8 mils, 12 mils, 20 mils, and 30 mils.

The thicker the wear layer the better since once it wears through, the printed pattern will become damaged and result in needing the vinyl flooring replaced. However, products with the highest wear layer tend to cost more. It is recommended for residential installations to include a product with a minimum wear layer of 20 mils. For Businesses with a wear layer thicker than 28 mils, some may find that the LVT sacrifices some of its clarity with the print layer underneath for the added durability for extra heavy traffic

In addition to the thickness of the wear layer, the type of coating may also provide added protection. Some polyurethane finishes are reinforced with either aluminum oxide, silica beading, or ceramic beading to help resist scratching. The protective topcoat also makes the planks harder and does not require any application of additional waxes or polishes to your luxury vinyl tile.

You can find many samples of commercial LVT Floors In Americarpet. Call Juan Werner the president of the company to help you with your floor at 305 945 2973.

Large Commercial Carpet and LVT Installations

commercial-carpet-installation

Large Commercial Carpet and LVT Installations require careful planning, proper preparation, and experienced installation professionals. At Americarpet, we have completed hundreds of commercial flooring projects throughout South Florida, providing high-quality commercial carpet and luxury vinyl tile (LVT) installations for offices, condominium buildings, hotels, retail stores, healthcare facilities, and other commercial properties.

Professional Installation Starts with the Right Tools

Successful Large Commercial Carpet and LVT Installations require professional equipment and experienced installers. Some of the specialized tools used during installation include power stretchers, seaming tape, seaming irons, straightedges, knee kickers, tackless strips, carpet trimmers, stair tools, rubber mallets, staple guns, utility knives, large scrapers, and many other professional installation tools.

Our installation crews also use trucks to transport new commercial carpet, carpet padding, and LVT flooring. For renovation projects, we provide dumpsters for the removal and disposal of existing flooring materials.

Proper Floor Preparation

One of the most important steps in Large Commercial Carpet and LVT Installations is preparing the existing floor. In most commercial projects, the old flooring must be removed before installation begins. Proper planning and logistics are essential to keep the project on schedule.

Floor Leveling

Commercial carpet is typically glued directly to concrete subfloors, and LVT flooring can also be installed using adhesive. However, many concrete slabs are not perfectly level. Professional installers use straightedges to identify high and low spots, sand uneven areas, and apply floor leveling compounds when necessary to create a smooth installation surface.

Why Professional Installation Matters

Installing commercial flooring requires experience, specialized tools, and proper techniques. Professional installation helps ensure better appearance, longer product life, improved performance, and fewer maintenance issues over time.

At Americarpet, our experienced installation teams specialize in Large Commercial Carpet and LVT Installations, delivering high-quality workmanship for commercial projects throughout South Florida.

LVT vs. VCT

LVT vs. VCT Flooring is a common comparison for businesses, contractors, architects, and property managers choosing flooring for commercial projects. While Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT) offer similar appearances, they differ significantly in durability, maintenance, installation, and long-term value.

At Americarpet, we help customers choose the right commercial flooring solution based on performance, budget, and the specific needs of each project.

What Is LVT?

Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) is a premium flooring product manufactured with multiple vinyl layers and a durable protective wear layer. It is designed to withstand heavy foot traffic while providing the appearance of natural wood, stone, or tile.

LVT offers a wide variety of colors, patterns, and sizes, giving designers greater flexibility to create attractive commercial interiors with custom installation patterns.LVT vs VCT

What Is VCT?

Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT) is manufactured using a combination of vinyl, limestone, fillers, and other materials. Because it is more porous than LVT, VCT requires regular polishing, stripping, and maintenance to preserve its appearance and performance.

Although VCT has been a popular flooring option for many years, it generally requires more ongoing maintenance than Luxury Vinyl Tile.

LVT vs VCT

LVT vs VCT: Durability

One of the biggest differences in LVT vs VCT is durability.

LVT features a thicker, more durable core and a factory-applied wear layer that provides excellent resistance to scratches, stains, and everyday wear. VCT is typically thinner and relies on applied floor polish to protect its surface.

LVT vs VCT: Maintenance

Maintenance is another important difference in LVT vs VCT.

LVT requires minimal maintenance, making it an excellent choice for busy commercial environments. VCT requires regular stripping, waxing, polishing, and cleaning chemicals to maintain its finish, resulting in higher long-term maintenance costs.

Which Is the Better Choice?

Both LVT and VCT perform well in high-traffic environments such as healthcare facilities, schools, offices, retail stores, and other commercial buildings.

If your priority is lower maintenance, improved durability, and long-term value, Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) is often the preferred solution.

At Americarpet, we help customers compare LVT vs VCT and select the commercial flooring product that best fits their project, budget, and long-term maintenance goals.

Flooring for Healthcare Industry

Flooring for Healthcare Industry plays a critical role in creating safe, durable, and comfortable healthcare environments. Whether you’re designing a hospital, medical office, clinic, urgent care center, rehabilitation facility, or private practice, selecting the right commercial flooring is essential for long-term performance and easy maintenance.

At Americarpet, we help architects, designers, contractors, and healthcare professionals choose the best flooring solutions for healthcare facilities based on durability, maintenance requirements, and design.

Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT)

One of the most popular Flooring for Healthcare Industry options is Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT). LVT combines outstanding durability with modern design, making it an excellent choice for waiting rooms, medical offices, corridors, and other healthcare spaces.

LVT is easy to clean, highly resistant to daily wear, and available in a wide variety of wood and stone looks. For commercial healthcare applications, we recommend selecting LVT with a 20 mil or 22 mil wear layer to provide maximum durability in high-traffic environments.

Flooring for Healthcare Industry

Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT)

Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT) is another commonly used healthcare flooring option. Manufactured from vinyl, limestone, fillers, and color pigments, VCT is known for its durability and affordable initial cost.

Although VCT performs well in busy healthcare facilities, it requires more maintenance than LVT, including regular stripping, waxing, and polishing to maintain its appearance over time.

Flooring for Healthcare Industry

Rubber Flooring

Rubber flooring has become a preferred flooring solution in many hospitals and healthcare facilities because of its durability, comfort, and safety.

Rubber flooring provides excellent slip resistance, absorbs sound, and withstands heavy rolling loads from hospital beds, wheelchairs, and medical equipment. It also offers a comfortable walking surface for healthcare professionals who spend long hours on their feet.

LVT Wear Layer Facts

LVT Wear Layer is one of the most important factors to consider when choosing Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) flooring. The wear layer determines how well the floor resists scratches, scuffs, stains, and everyday wear, making it a key factor in the durability and lifespan of your flooring.

At Americarpet, we help homeowners, contractors, architects, designers, and property managers choose the right LVT flooring based on traffic levels and the specific needs of each project.

What Is an LVT Wear Layer?

The LVT Wear Layer is a transparent protective coating that covers the printed design layer of a Luxury Vinyl Tile plank. This protective layer helps prevent scratches, scuffs, stains, and everyday wear while maintaining the appearance of the flooring for many years.

LVT Wear Layer

Why Is the LVT Wear Layer Important?

One of the biggest advantages of LVT Wear Layer technology is increased durability and lower maintenance costs. A thicker wear layer provides better protection against heavy foot traffic, helping commercial and residential floors maintain their appearance longer.

LVT Wear Layer

Wear Layer Thickness

The LVT Wear Layer is measured in mils (one-thousandth of an inch). Most flooring manufacturers offer wear layers ranging from 8 mil to 22 mil, depending on the intended application.

Commercial LVT Wear Layers

For commercial flooring, a 20 mil to 22 mil wear layer is generally recommended. Thicker wear layers provide better protection in offices, retail stores, healthcare facilities, schools, hotels, and other high-traffic commercial environments.

LVT Wear Layer

Residential LVT Wear Layers

For residential flooring, an 8 mil wear layer or greater is often sufficient. The ideal wear layer depends on the amount of foot traffic in your home, pets, children, and the level of durability you expect from your flooring.

LVT Wear Layer

Choosing the Right LVT Flooring

If you’re looking for durable, low-maintenance, and long-lasting flooring, Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) is an excellent choice. At Americarpet, we offer hundreds of LVT styles, colors, and wear layer options for both residential and commercial applications.
