Churches commercial carpet options

When choosing the type of carpet, various factors and elements determine whether the choice makes it fit for the existing design. When planning your carpet design, looks are not everything. You have to focus on the foot traffic and also the commercial-grade flooring in the building.

Deciding on the choice of carpet to make, you have to keep various points in consideration. Today we will share some tips to help you buy the right carpet for a church setting.

Traditional Carpet

If you go for a simple solution, then a traditional carpet is your best choice. It is a common choice for churches, especially for areas that require quietness for meditation and prayers. If you compare the sound of wooden floors to carpets, you will find the latter preferable. Choose a carpet that has a dampening effect on the sound as it assists in acoustics for singing or music.

Count on Quality

The quality of the carpet material that you choose matters. Church building requires commercial code flooring. Even in these flooring options, some are more durable than others. You have to consider the maintenance aspect of any carpet, which is the same for a church setting.

Understand the Types

Carpet is a popular choice for church interior as worshippers want to feel comfortable and easy on the floor. You have two options to go with a commercial carpet: broadloom or tiles. Traditional loom carets come in a single roll with typically 12’ – 0” wideness. They are best for a large hall with a similar dimension.

On the other hand, carpet tiles come in various shapes and sizes that make them easy to install or add color. From a practical standpoint, foot damage and stains usually occur on church floorings. Carpet tiles are easily replaceable if a piece suffers damage, making them an ideal choice according to budget.

Durability

Durability comes hand in hand with the aspects of quality when it comes to making a carpet choice for the church. Choose a carpet that can withstand foot traffic and retains its quality for a long time. A durable carpet eliminates the need for constant replacement due to wear and tear. Additionally, a durable option will also save maintenance costs while retaining its appealing look. The high traffic areas of a church should always look visually appealing, and a durable carpet can sustain that look for long.

The decision you make about a commercial carpet is a long-term choice. Remember that different options come with their set of pros and cons. Keep these points in the notice and make the right choice accordingly.

You can keep the tips mentioned above in notice and make the purchase, or you can visit Americarpet floors for more options for commercial settings.

Where to use Commercial Carpet Tile

If you’re looking for a fantastic alternative to traditional carpets, then think about using carpet tiles. These can give the same look as traditional broadloom carpets but have some significant advantages particularly if you are considering flooring for a room with high family activity and the presence of children and/or pets or even areas of high daily wear and tear, such as in the commercial sector. They can even add a unique element to your interior design scheme, which may not be achievable with conventional wall-to-wall carpeting.

What are Carpet Tiles?

Carpet tiles are made up of the same materials as normally-bonded carpet but come in ‘squares’, usually in a set size, and of varying thickness. They may not have as dense a pile as normal rolled carpet but this does not affect their function. They come in an endless variety of patterns and colours which makes them a delight to work with when decorating with a specific colour scheme in mind.

Where can I use Carpet Tiles?

Carpet tiles are generally suitable for any room in the house although it may be a good idea to avoid using them in basement areas due to a potential to attract mildew. They can be installed over any surface that is clean and dry.

What are their Advantages?

The great advantage of carpet tiles is when it comes to repair, as just the damaged areas can be replaced through the exchange of a few select new tiles for old, worn or damaged ones. Remember to buy a few replacement tiles when initially installing the tiles as this way you can get an exact match in colour and design when you come to replace any damaged areas. You can even swap tiles around in a room to even out the wear, thus, the tiles under furniture can be exchanged for the ones by the doorway.

Another advantage of carpet tiles is the easy access they provide to under-floor wiring and even plumbing. Furthermore, they are very hard-wearing and easy to clean, making them especially suitable for children’s play areas and rooms. Their bright colours and variety of styles and patterns appeal to children and make designing the children’s floor schemes an easy task.

How about Installation?

One of the great attractions of carpet tiles is their ease of installation which makes them a favourite choice with DIY enthusiasts. Not only do you not have to worry about expensive installation costs but the normally awkward and messy job of carpet installation is transformed into a simple and quick process: fewer special tools are required and the installation process takes less time overall. The usual tools involved are double-sided carpet tape, a sharp Stanley knife with a heavy duty blade, a pencil or chalk marker and some form of straight edge, together with a cutting board and a tape measure. Most carpet tiles will either be dry-backed, which will require a special adhesive, or have a self-sticking backing. As they have this special backing, the usual carpet underlay will not be needed, however, it is very important to ensure that the floor underneath is clean and dry. Also, make sure that the underfloor is level as carpet tiles are designed to lay flat.

How do I Take Care of Carpet Tiles?

No special maintenance is required, just a regular vacuum and quick attention to any spills and stains. Remove as much excess solids or liquids by scraping or sponging and then rinse with water and sponge clean. In some cases, you can actually lift the stained tiles and rinse them under the tap. If you do decide to use some form of detergent, remember to rinse it off thoroughly as any traces left will attract grime and dirt, causing greater staining in the future.

With its low cost, easy installation and myriad of practical advantages, as well as its decorative flexibility, it’s easy to see why carpet tiles are becoming increasingly popular as a choice of flooring.

Printed commercial carpet

Many people come to our showroom and when we show them a beautifully printed carpet, the first question they ask is what is a commercial printed carpet?

Printed carpet is any carpet that achieves high definition patterns and graphics using state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques that print directly on the unfinished carpet.

New technology made printed carpets available for the first time, more than 20 years ago. Since then, technical refinement, improvement, and development have enhanced design possibilities with printed carpet.

There are several common processes used to add color and patterns to commercial carpet:

Yarn dyeing: This is the process of coloring white yarn, with each fiber dyed a single color before being tufted into the carpet. Yarn dyeing typically adds a single color to each fiber, but a process known as space dyeing can be used to add several colors down to the length of the fiber.

Continuous Dyeing: Continuous dyeing is a post-dyeing process, meaning the dye is applied once the carpet fibers have been constructed. The fabric is passed through a dye “waterfall” and by using multiple applicators and different dyes, it is possible to create a huge range of different colors and shades of carpet.

Digital Dye Infusion: This is the technical name for printed carpet. It uses the same dyes and fixing processes as yarn dyeing, but with the difference that the dye is injected after the textile has been constructed, with the dye penetrating directly into the carpet fibers.

Different processes can be used to achieve different looks and will be suited to different projects, Americarpet has been in the flooring business for over 35 years, our team of professionals will be happy to assist you in the process of finding the best fit for your office, condo, or hospitality business.

The Importance of Cushioned Floor Backing.

Let us start by saying that contact with the floor creates more physical stress on the body than people think, and of course, there are more things that can be far more destructive than walking or standing, but we walk and stand every day of our life’s, in the workplace, in our house, in the mall, in the grocery store, in the pharmacy, and the list goes on, that’s why the cushion or backing of certain floors especially carpet matter so much.

The University of Pittsburgh did an independent study showing that cushion backing decreases muscle strain by 24% when compared with hardback carpet. Comfort-related factors can enhance overall mood and Improved productivity, which has clear economic implications for employers as well as for employees.

There is a rising trend in the workplace for the sit-to-stand configuration and it is driven by concerns about health. Studies have shown that getting workers out of their chairs can lower the risk of weight gain and heart disease, and a reduction in back pain.

This increase in standing and walking should encourage an added focus on floor coverings. Your carpet at home probably has a nice cushion underneath to make it more comfortable, and we should provide those same comforts in the office.

The cushion back makes the difference and at Americarpet we work with the main factories that have this type of cushion available for your commercial project.

LVT vs. VCT

For starters, what does LVT mean? LVT is an abbreviation for Luxury Vinyl Tile and VCT is an abbreviation for Vinyl Composite Tile. While offering similar looks, the two differ in terms of material makeup, cost, and installation. Designers can achieve more advanced visuals and sizes with LVT, allowing them to create more impactful environments with patterns, colors, and creative installation methods.

The material composition of LVT and VCT is different, which can help with the decision-making process. LVT is made from vinyl making it a durable hard surface with a protective layer. VCT however, is made of only a small amount of vinyl with limestone or other materials that result in a more porous option, meaning it needs consistent maintenance to uphold its structure and appearance.

LVT can be a much more durable product that comes with a thicker, more resistant core and a top coat finish that is factory applied for enhanced durability, While VCT tiles are typically thinner and use locally applied polish.

Then the maintenance costs, including chemicals and time, for VCT are higher than the initial cost and continued maintenance of LVT.

Both VCT and LVT are great options for high-traffic areas such as healthcare, education, or commercial spaces.

At Americarpet we can help you choose the floor that best suits your needs.

Interior Design Ideas from USA Libraries

In these modern times, the interior design of libraries can be a valuable community or school resource for everyone to enjoy.

They are three basic design elements that are considered essential for creating a successful library facility, Acoustics, light, and color, once you managed to integrate these three elements in one amazing design the result would be modern, efficient, and functional.

We find three examples of amazing library designs:

  • Bothell library. Bothell, Washington, USA

This flooring choice helps create a cohesive color scheme throughout the space with the paint color of the walls and the addition of white tones.

  • Vashon library. Vashon Island, Washington, USA

This design maximizes the impacts of their glass exteriors with a selection of relaxing floor colors, making a great integration between exteriors and interiors.

  • Cornelius Innovation lab at Cornelius Elementary School, North Carolina, USA.

The bright colors on the walls complemented by the carpet are particularly appealing to young students, a great design for an elementary school library.

Flooring for Healthcare Industry

When it comes to the healthcare industry, whether they are clinics, hospitals, emergency rooms, urgent care, or private practices, the material of the floors is especially important, fortunately, there is a wide variety of designs that meet key standards and requirements.

We are going to break down which are the most used and recommended types of flooring for the health industry.

First, we have the Luxury Vinyl Tile: This product is extremely easy to maintain and is built to last, but keep in mind that the floor must have a wear layer of 22mm or more to be effectively durable. LVT flooring is one of the most popular flooring products today, combining design and durability. This product can give a touch of elegance and professionalism to the waiting rooms of your private practice or clinic.

Second, The Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT): VCT is always an economical option. These tiles are a mixture of natural limestone, fillers, color pigments, and a thermoplastic binder. Though the tile is extremely durable, VCT is higher maintenance (stripping, waxing, polishing) than other vinyl floors.

And Third, The Rubber floor:  Rubber flooring is extremely popular in hospital settings. Rubber elevates interiors with near-perfect installation, durability, and versatile design possibilities. The dense rubber surface structure offers proven strength under pressure, withstanding even the harshest hospital conditions without sacrificing style.

The floor you want to use depends on a series of factors to consider, come to our showroom and we will be happy to help you find the perfect choice for your flooring needs.

Carpet tile installation patterns

Carpet tiles are available in a wide variety of colors and designs, but they have another great benefit, they can also be installed in a variety of different patterns.  Every pattern depends on the type of carpet tile, some patterns are for carpet squares and others are for carpet planks, let’s look at the different patterns for each.

Carpet tile squares.

1) Monolithic

In this carpet tile installation, all the carpet tile squares are installed in the same orientation.

2) Brick

The rows of the carpet tile squares are off-set by half a tile’s width, creating a brick-like pattern.

3) Ashlar

This is similar to the brick layout, but rather than off-setting each row by half a tile’s width, it’s each column that’s off-set by half a tile, creating a vertical brick-like pattern.

4) Quarter-turn

In this installation method, carpet tiles are installed in organized rows and columns, but each tile is rotated approximately 90 degrees compared with the tile before it.

Carpet tile Planks.

With carpet tile planks you can apply installation patterns like the Carpet squares such as Monolithic, Ashlar and Brick, plus two more:

1) Herringbone

This is a popular installation choice for carpet planks, as it creates a distinctive pattern.

2) Basketweave

Carpet tile planks are installed in groups of four, so that the pattern resembles a woven pattern.

The type of installation pattern you want to use is related to the type of flooring, the design, the color and other characteristics that should be consulted with professionals. Americarpet has more than 35 years in the flooring business and we are qualified to help you find the carpet that best meets your needs.
